Mahamevnawa Dhamma Circle is a non-profit organisation established in 2015 to cater to the social, cultural and spiritual needs of the Sri Lankan community living in New Zealand. We have re-organised our charity in 2017 to re-shape the operations to fulfill the needs of the community, where we can serve all age groups: Seniors, Adults, Youth and Children.

We are working with one of the largest monastery in Sri Lanka, Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery (short name Mahamevnawa, https://mahamevnawabm.org/), which has focus on benefit the spiritual development of human beings through the original teachings of Buddha. Monastery was founded in 1999 in Sri Lanka by Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero, its sole purpose is to spread the original teachings of the Buddha. Uniqueness of Mahamevnawa is presenting the Buddha’s teachings in modern language that is easy to understand. As a result of describing the Buddha’s Dhamma teachings in a comprehensible language pattern and excellent meditation programs became accommodating for many people who were looking to improve their inner peace around the world. As of now Mahamevnawa has meditation centers established in Canada, USA, UK, Australia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, South Korea and India, where those centers help devotees to practice meditation and learn original teachings of Buddha.
